2015 has already come and gone. What better time than the New Year to reflect on accomplishments from the previous year and areas you would like to improve in the future? Maybe you have bad habits you would like to kick, or you want to become a happier and healthier you. I have a different idea I would like to throw out there. For 2016, let’s all be more aware of the opportunities to impact others.
In 2015, we had great examples of ways to go the extra mile and positively impact lives, like the sheriff’s deputies in Florida who threw a birthday party for an autistic boy. Things like this are moving, and they will not soon be forgotten! But what is great about this story and ones like it is that it was ordinary people who saw a need, an opportunity, and they grabbed hold.
As a staffing company, the Medix team is often faced with opportunities to positively impact someone. Whether it’s driving a candidate to an interview because he/she has a flat tire or raising money for a talent whose home got burglarized, I’ve seen the team step up to the plate, and it inspires me every day. Regardless of the industry you work in, opportunities to positively impact a life are everywhere, but it is up to each of us to recognize and act. Every day, unforeseen circumstances leave a person in hardship. We are all guilty of getting so caught up on our day-to-day events and activities to the point where we see someone in the dark, and we sympathize without realizing we have the power to turn the light back on.
Let’s all make it a resolution to look at the example set by those sheriff’s deputies and others who went above and beyond. There is much need in our communities, so let’s make 2016 the year of seizing those opportunities to positively impact a life!
Happy New Year from the Medix family to yours!
